Creative Sunday Practice #4

It hums. It spins. It hides unexpected beauty in the reflections and symmetry.

If you’ve never paused to really look at your everyday appliances, this week’s #CreativeSundayPractice is the perfect excuse.

This Sunday, our subject is… the washing machine (or dryer, or both!).

At first glance, it might seem completely ordinary. But when was the last time you looked inside your washing machine with a curious, creative eye?

The reflections, textures, circular rhythm, and even the geometry of the control panel create a photographer’s playground disguised as a household chore. Zoom in on the drum, capture the little symbols on the laundry tags, or experiment with abstract compositions inspired by the spinning interior. There are as many visual directions as there are machine settings.

My Washing Machine Experiments

To help spark your imagination, here are a few smartphone photos I took at home. Think of them as a warm-up or a starting point to get your creative juices flowing.

The point isn’t perfection. Try focusing on curiosity, exploration, and training your eye to see the extraordinary in the ordinary.

Why It Matters

Practicing even a few minutes of creative observation at home helps you notice patterns, textures, and light in unexpected places. It trains your eye, sharpens your composition skills, and keeps your creativity active for the week ahead.

So grab your phone, roll up your sleeves, and see what beauty hides in plain sight, even inside a washing machine.
